contactSouth Shields Seafront Interpretation Project
"Inspired by the recent major Seachange regeneration of the South Shields promenade at Sandhaven, Grit & Pearl, in collaboration with South Tyneside Council,invited artists to undertake a series of mini-residencies on the seafront at South Shields".
As part of the above I spent a number of days on-site in August and September walking the seafront; talking to people with an interest in the beach; and researching in the archives.
Two ideas were put forward and one of them has been taken forward resulting in the production of two issues of a limited-edition 'newspaper' called 'The SandPaper'.
The paper takes the sands as its focus and the Winter Edition is available here (12mb). The Summer Edition is available here (14.9mb) or at various locations in South Shields.
