balance/flow - Digbeth Coach Station, Birmingham
"From an early date roads radiated along the sandstone ridge to Edgbaston and Sutton Coldfield and across the ridge into Staffordshire: dominating every feature of local communications was the crossing of the Rea at the bottom of Digbeth." Source
Work here has focused on the boundary of the site. Working with Rob Colbourne and the wider project team we have developed a fence that is functional for the current and future users of the site and reflects aspects of the site's past.
Work on the new station building is already well under way and the foundations for the fence are due to be put in by early spring 2009. The 4th December 2008 edition of Birmingham Post's City Living magazine carried an article on the work. Download the pdf (2.7mb) here.
