Cupiditas Videndi

The record of an ascent of Mont Ventoux (near Carpentras in southern France). Also called Le Geant de Provence, this 1912 metre high mountain has attracted attention throughout history.Petrarch climbed it in 1336, and paralleled the experience with the path to virtue and to heaven.

I made the ascent one August morning, leaving Bedoin at 6am, to be at the summit before the hottest part of the day. The journey is truly a spiritual experience. Try and make the ascent on foot or by bicycle, for the greatest reward.
