The Norfolk Geology Series (commenced Summer 2024) is an
ongoing series of works about the geology of the county I now call
home. Young in comparison to that of northern and western Britain the
county does still contain a wealth of geology (both bedrock and
superficial) that I feel inspired to make work about … the rich, dark
beauty of Fen and Broadland peat; the brilliant white of a chalk
pebble sitting amongst grass; the hard, mysterious presences of flint;
the glacial but workaday Crag. Some geology immediately inspires
sounds, others lend colour (literally), sometimes it will be about the
formation or destruction of the geology … the processes of layering,
folding, erosion …
Originally intended as a purely sound-based series there will now be
responses in other media. I’ve already started exploring folded
structures and paper-based works. I will add images here as they
appear …
